Gulfstream Aerospace has delivered a special mission aircraft to the United States Navy that is based on the G550.
This specific aircraft, designated NC-37B, will be used to monitor the ranges used to firing live missiles. The aircraft will replace a similarly configured Lockheed Orion when the mission equipment has been installed. The aircraft has the same shape as the ones in use by countries like Israel, Italy and Singapore. Also the new EC-37B ordered by the USAF has the same bulbs in the nose, along the fuselage, in the tailcone and the top over the vertical stabiliser.
The NC-37B has BuNo 166379 with code 100, and will be assigned to the Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 30 Bloodhounds, based at Naval Air Station Point Mugu (CA). (photo copyright Gulfstream Aerospace)
